C11FPBORE Delica™ Lightweight HAP40/SUS410 Sprint

This limited-edition Sprint Run combines the proven features and benefits of the popular Delica 4 Lightweight with a laminated blade crafted from HAP40 and SUS410 steels. The center layer of the full-flat-ground blade is made from HAP40—an advanced high-speed tool steel produced by the powder metallurgy process. HAP40’s generous amounts of tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, and cobalt give it exceptional toughness and high abrasion resistance, both ideal properties in a high-performance blade steel. The HAP40 core is sandwiched between layers of SUS410—a martensitic stainless steel that provide increased strength and improved corrosion resistance.

All the other features of this unique knife are the defining qualities of the Delica Lightweight, including skeletonized stainless steel liners, a sturdy back lock mechanism, fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) scales with Bi-Directional Texturing, a Trademark Round Hole™ for easy one-handed opening, and a versatile four-position pocket clip. Like the other members of Spyderco’s HAP40 Sprint Run family, the durable FRN handle of this Delica Lightweight is injection molded in a distinctive burnt-orange color.

    The Knife I Decided On

Posted by Michael C. on 25th May 2017

So after 10 days worth of hard research, starting upon knowing just a minuscule amount on knives. Now, still learning, but much knowledgeable on the subject I concluded on this knife for my first. Looking at knives from 10 different dealers, I reduced it to Benchmade and Spyderco. Upon looking at style, blades, ergos, locking, steels, handles, lengths, and pricing I debated another 3 days and decided on Spyderco. From there I took to the delica, small but still one of the best in EDC. I then debated zdp 189, superblue, and hap40. I ended up with hap40 because I had moderate sharpness retention compared to the three, good hardness, very good toughness, and as a plus it was a high speed steel able to take prolonged cutting in back and forth motions (like a saw or drill bit would when cutting through something).

Now the review from when I received the knife. The the knife was a genuine Spyderco Hap40 knife. I made sure and checked all signs of it being fake and checked the serial number. Blade sharpness was underwhelming, compared to people saying it came very sharp. Towards the body of the blade it was sharp enough to do push cutting through letter paper, but anything beyond that point to the tip wasn't sharp enough to push cut. I give it 4 stars for that.

In conclusion, this is a good dealer. I would recommend them, real products from their respective companies. Brand new and they ship fast. Got mine on the former of the two dates. Now I've got to buy my sharpening kit haha.
